In the late 1960's a group of locals would gather at a disused Shire Council gravel pit to race each other. In 1972 a formal agreement was entered into to lease the approximate 50 acres of land on Middlesex Road and Redline Raceway was born.

In the early days like most speedways in Western Australia there was no safety barrier or fence and the edge of the track was marked by a bank. The early divisions consisted of Supermods, the fathers of modern day Speedcars and Sprintcars, as well as ordinary street cars with varying degrees of modification. In those days the track was a rough D shape with one very sharp downhill corner which made for some very interesting racing. The track even in those days was highly regarded by visiting drivers for its shape and size and the unique surface white clay composition. In time the bank was modified with the insertion of 44 Gallon drums as a crude safety barrier. This was then replaced in the 1980's with jarrah log hearts donated from Bunnings and the track configuration was changed to an oval shape of 585m on the kerb, the largest in Western Australia if not Australia.

The surroundings were slowly upgraded with donated materials and volunteer labour and the track now boasts a purpose built canteen and bar together with tiered seating, Public Announcement box, starters box and one of the largest pit areas able to house around 100 vehicles and transporters. In 1992 an approved safety catch fence was installed to allow all divisions to race at the Circuit. During its hey day, the Manjimup Club had full fields of all divisions and frequently hosted State and National events. Over the years, the face of racing has changed and the club has successfully continued to attract the varying visiting divisions to support the local competition. The Club has always managed to attract a strong community sponsorship base with cash donations and numerous in kind donations from the business sector with machinery and operator use.

The restructure of the timber industry had a devastating effect on the sponsor, spectator and volunteer base in its early stages. This also coincided with a substantial increase in the cost of Public Liability Insurance, which resulted in the Club being unable to access the needed funds from the local community to repair the failing timber log heart safety barrier or use funds previously held in reserve. Confidence in the region has subsequently returned, which has been evidenced with the ability of the club to raise substantial sponsorship pledges for the project and sourcing by West Australian Speedway Commission to the Insurance Council of Western Australian Public Liability coverage. This was due to the outstanding safety record of Speedway in Western Australia to provide a very low cost Insurance. Western Australia is the only State who has been approved to use this Insurance.
